Mokrice: The Castles of Posavje - first decade
On Wednesday, September 18, 2024, the Castles of Posavje International Conference – the first decade, co-created by representatives of the Castles of Posavija (Božidar Jakac Gallery Kostanjevica na Krka: the former monastery in Kostanjevica na Krka, Kozjanski Park Podsreda: Podsreda Castle, Krško Cultural Center: Rajhenburg Castle, KŠTM Sevnica: Sevnica Castle, Posavski Museum Brežice: Brežice Castle, Terme Čatež: Mokrice Castle, KTRC Radeče: ruins and area of Svibno Castle, Municipality of Bistrica ob Sotla: remains of Kunšperk Castle), RRA Posavje and ZPTM Brežice and guests from Croatia (Museums of Croatian Zagorje, Dvorec Trakoščan), took place in the beautiful Castle Mokrice.
The project started in 2014, with the goal of connecting and working together in the field of promotion, planning and implementation of projects and wider activities. Throughout the years, castle managers have organized many events, activities and joint promotional campaigns in which they also cooperated with other partners. They actively participated in conferences both at home and abroad, as well as professional excursions, where they exchanged experiences. In 2020, it received the Jakob Award for tourism quality and excellence in the Alps-Adria region for 2020, in the category of innovative tourist content and programs in manors and castles.
In 2019 they crated the joint website https://gradoviposavja.si/, managed by Terme Čatež, as well as a special torusit package entitled “Castles of Posavje -be inpired” to discover and learn about the one-of-a-kind castles that were build in this region of Slovenia.
The joint cooperation of culture and tourism opens up possibilities for the development of understanding, respect and dialogue, as well as increasing visibility both at home and in the world.
The event also drew attention to World Tourism Day – September 27, with the theme of 2024 Tourism and Peace, and European Cultural Heritage Days, with the theme Heritage of Cultural Routes, Networking and Connections.
